MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Finding a Christmas meal: that's what many folks can often find challenging on Christmas who aren't visiting family or friends for the holidays. With many restaurants taking Christmas off, 47-year-old Schatz Crossroads in Minot takes a different approach. Restaurant manager Tiana Demontigny says that there are many different types of people that Schatz Crossroads caters to during the holidays. "People who are traveling, also for people living in Minot who maybe don't have somewhere to go, can't cook their own meals so they can come into Schatz and have a fun festive time," said Demontigny. Demontigny says that especially around Christmas time, Schatz will get many folks coming through who work on Christmas, particularly those that work graveyard shifts. "Lots of truckers through the morning, lunchtime, evening and through the graveyard," aaid Demontigny. Balancing holiday drinks for a healthy gut However, Demontigny says that Schatz crossroads menu options offer more traditional Christmas Dinner foods than most restaurants. "So we're going to have a turkey dinner that will have the mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, a bun, and also with a piece of the homemade Christmas cake," said Demontigny. For one longtime patron and Minot local John Mathews, the steak and eggs is good enough for him this Christmas, and Schatz Crossroads is one of his favorite go to spots before visiting family for the holiday. "We're traveling, we're going up to our daughters and we stopped here for breakfast, you know, and we usually take in the holidays here with the good meals," said Mathews. Demontigny says that her patrons that come in everyday or just on Christmas are grateful that they have a place to go to that has real feeling of community. "We have a lot of guests that come in that are very loyal to come in anyway, then we also have people come in on Christmas time and they're so grateful they have somewhere to go, there's nice warm food and good customer services" said Demontigny. Schatz Crossroads Restaurant will also be open all day for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day as well. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
