(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a report of a shooting early Christmas morning, on Wednesday, Dec. 25, where a son allegedly shot a round through his parents bedroom door and hit his mother.
According to CSPD, officers arrived at the scene in the 1600 block of Rushmore Drive, near South Circle Drive and East Fountain Boulevard, around 4 a.m. and found that the suspect had run from the residence. They found the victim upstairs in a bedroom with a gunshot wound and applied a tourniquet to her arm to stop the excessive bleeding.
The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Ulises Jaquez-Hernandez, returned to the home and was taken into custody without incident.
CSPD reported that the shooting occurred after an argument between Jaquez-Hernandez and his father. When they arrived home the father and mother went into their bedroom and closed the door. The suspect allegedly got a gun and fired through the bedroom door, hitting his mother in the right arm. The mother was treated at the hospital.
