Dec 24, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Elect Sid Edwards has announced his first major hire as he prepares to take office. Baton Rouge businessman and community leader Charlie Davis has been named interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Davis, 48, brings over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor, and activist. He is the founder and CEO of Moxey, a Louisiana-based small business network, and co-founder of MasteryPrep, a company helping underprivileged students improve ACT scores nationwide. Davis currently serves as secretary of the Louisiana Republican Party and vice president of New Schools for Baton Rouge.
“Charlie loves Baton Rouge and shares my vision for building unity and improving the quality of life for every person in the parish,” Edwards said. “He’s going to help us get off to a fast start and deliver results.”
A Return to Public Service
Davis is no stranger to leadership. A native of Greater Baton Rouge and an Eagle Scout, he holds a degree in economics from LSU. As CAO, he will oversee the daily operations of the city-parish government, working closely with Edwards to set departmental goals, assess policies, and analyze financial strategies.
“I’m looking forward to helping Coach Sid make Baton Rouge an even better place to grow up, to raise a family, and to start a company,” Davis said. “Coach Sid is the leader that our community needs, and I’m honored to be on his team.”
Transition Team and Next Steps
This announcement comes as Edwards continues building his Win EBR Transition Team. The team, chaired by Sen. Rick Edmonds, has outlined key priorities, including economic development, public safety, and quality of life improvements. Committees are meeting through March to develop actionable recommendations for the new administration.
Edwards, who defeated incumbent Sharon Weston-Broome in a closely contested mayoral race, campaigned on promises to unite the community and deliver meaningful change.
