WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — An annual tradition for the town of Warwick will be coming to an end, as Mayor Frank Picozzi has decided that this will most likely be the last year for his beloved Christmas display. For 17 years, Picozzi has created a display in front of his home, but in a post on Facebook he said it would most likely be his last year.  “A lot of the display is getting old and needs replacing or rebuilding and with my job it’s hard to find the time,” he said. “And I’m not getting any younger and setting this up and taking it down is getting harder every year,” he added. Picozzi has used the display to collect donations for the Tomorrow Fund at Hasbro Children’s Hospital He told ABC6 that the demands of being mayor have given him little time to work on the display throughout the year as he always has. “I used to add to the display each year but I’ve been unable to since I became Mayor,” he said. The display at  75 Gristmill Road in Warwick will run through Dec. 31.  The display will run through Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 to 10 p.m. “It’s a difficult decision for me and it makes me very sad. I’ve been doing this for 17 years and I love it, but it’s just time,” said Picozzi. Categories: News
