SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman suffered some third-degree burns after being set on fire in Harnett County last week, deputies said. Deputies were notified just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 16 about a 20-year-old burn victim at a local hospital, according to a Harnett County Sheriff's Office news release. Sleeping woman who was set on fire aboard subway dies, person of interest in custody Deputies said they were told the woman was taken to the hospital in Sanford emergency room with second and third-degree burns on the right side of her body. The incident happened as the woman was in the area of NC 27 West and Barbecue Church Road when three people she did not know doused her with gasoline and lit her on fire with a cigarette, a news The young woman was later taken from Central Carolina Hospital to a local burn center where as of Monday she was stable and listed as in critical condition. "There have been no witnesses located to date and no information has been received from the general public concerning this matter," deputies said in a news release.
