WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Monday evening, the DC Holiday Market in Dupont Circle and the Downtown DC Holiday Marke’ at Penn Quarter will turn off their lights, marking the end of their festivities for the year.  Throughout the past month, Dupont Circle and Penn Quarter were transformed into winter wonderlands, featuring vibrant paintings, hot cocoa and crafts from Latin America.  "This market has been fabulous. The locals have been amazing. This is like the one market that keeps me going throughout the year," said Kristen, a vendor at the market, who relies on the holiday season to generate major profits.  Fairfax County police officers host winter clothing drive The holiday markets welcomed dozens of artisans from different backgrounds between Nov. 22 to Dec. 23, sharing their unique artwork and gifts with a larger audience. "It means stretching out and having the opportunity to share our artwork and gifts with everyone," said Martha, a vendor selling food paintings in Dupont Circle. “This is my third year participating in the market, and my favorite part is the food, the people, the different vendors and seeing all the happy faces." Happy faces and satisfied stomachs were common, as visitors indulged in holiday pastries.  "The donuts were amazing. Probably the best part of the market," said Melissa, a market customer. The markets were celebrated among locals for their diverse range of crafts and gifts as well as their strong connections to local vendors.  "It’s small but very well collated. The quality that I see here has been phenomenal and the shopping has been off the charts,” said Kristen.  The holiday markets close for the last time at 8 p.m.
