(KRON) -- Emergency crews responded to a minivan fire inside the Caldecott Tunnel in the East Bay on Monday morning. Eastbound Highway 24 was shut down inside Bore 1 at 9:54 a.m. before fully reopening three hours later. According to CHP’s incident report, the minivan reportedly collided with a vehicle that was in front of it before it burst into flames. A Tesla driver then picked up the driver from the minivan as the blaze engulfed the vehicle. No injuries were reported, according to the Oakland Fire Department. (Citizen) The minivan was extinguished by responding Oakland firefighters. A tow truck later removed the burned vehicle from the tunnel. CHP issued a severe traffic alert at 10:22 a.m. as all eastbound lanes were shut down. Bore 2 was reopened at 10:35 a.m. Bore 1 reopened at 1:05 p.m.
