"Carspiracy Theory": Jordan Love embraces Toyotathon connection ahead of Monday Night Football
Dec 23, 2024
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Jordan Love is in the midst of his second season as the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and is making a push for yet another opportunity for playoff football.
In both seasons as the starter, Love's play on the field started relatively slow before heating up late in the season, the same time as Toyota's annual Toyotathon sales event.
Toyotathon is Toyota's infamous end-of-the-year sales event that typically runs for several weeks often lasting from late November through early January.

Last season, the Toyotathon sales event started on November 15, 2023, and lasted through January 3, 2024.
Prior to that November 15, 2023 start date, Jordan Love's first season as the Packers' starting quarterback was off to a rough start with a completion percentage under 60%, a 3-6 overall record, and ten total interceptions including one as time expired in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 12, 2023.
From that moment on something clicked for Love and the Packers. Love finished the rest of the season on a tear throwing for 2,150 yards, a 70+ completion percentage, 18 touchdowns, and just one interception as the Packers went 6-2 and clinched a playoff berth.
Fast forward to this season and Toyotathon is starting again on November 15, this time lasting through January 6, 2024.
Love once again started the season slow, which could be blamed on a week one MCL injury that kept him out of action for a few weeks along with a groin injury in week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Prior to the start of this year's Toyotathon sales event, Love had a completion percentage barely over 61% and had thrown, at the time, a league-high 10 interceptions. The Packers as a team were at a respectable 6-3 record but were coming off a 24-14 loss at home to the Lions, a game in which Love had no touchdowns, threw for one interception, and fumbled three times.
Now that Toyotathon has started, Love has once again ramped up his play throwing for 1100+ yards, a 68.7% completion percentage, 8 touchdowns, and only one interception as the Packers find themselves at 10-4 and winners of four out of their last five games.
In total, Love's numbers before and during Toyotathon are as follows:
Prior to Toyotathon
323 completions / 540 attempts, 59.8%
3,829 yards
29 touchdowns
20 interceptions
7-9 record
During Toyotathon
275 completions / 394 attempts, 69.8%
3,283 yards
26 touchdowns
2 interceptions
11-3 record
The discrepancy between Love's play prior to and during Toyota's Toyotathon has many fans wondering if this is just a simple coincidence or is there actually a "Car"-spiracy at play?
Love embraced and added fuel to the fire of those questioning a possible conspiracy between the quarterback and Toyota by making a post on Instagram Monday morning.
In the post, Love is seen wearing a "Merry Toyotathon" ugly Christmas sweater with the caption, "Toyotathon is on, Cheeseheads," and the hashtags "ToyotaPartner" and "CarspiracyTheory."

The post has seen a lot of reaction from fans, teammates, and others close to Love. Love's Fiance Ronika Stone commented on the photo "Toyotathon merchant," and Packers tight end Tucker Kraft simply said, "It's Toyota Time."
Love will look to keep this Toyotathon magic going as the Packers face the New Orleans Saints Monday night at a possibly snowy Lambeau Field. A win over New Orleans would clinch Green Bay a playoff berth for the second straight season.
