NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – It's that time of year once again. There's no better cure to earlier sunsets and chillier weather than to curl up under a warm blanket with a mug of hot cocoa and a holiday movie. With so many seasonal favorites, it can be hard to pick just one film. Nevertheless, KRQE News 13 asked viewers via social media which holiday movie was their favorite. The top answer among viewers, overwhelmingly, was the 1988 action thriller "Die Hard." While it is widely contested whether this film can actually be considered a Christmas movie, many KRQE viewers turn to John McClane and Hans Gruber for some holiday spirit. "Die Hard" wasn't the only action movie to make the list, however. One viewer prefers 1987's "Lethal Weapon" for holiday thrills. These holiday family staples have graced many screens throughout the years. Whether viewers prefer Ralphie's or Kevin's various escapades, it can't be denied that both films bring plenty of holiday cheer. Other favorites include "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "The Family Stone," and "White Christmas." Of course, holiday films aren't limited to just one pick. "The 1964 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is number 1, and 1989 National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is the bomb," said one viewer.
