GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Four Greenwood men were charged with murder in New Jersey after a missing man was found dead in Ocean County earlier this month. According to a news release from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, 23-year-old Sourav Kumar, 27-year-old Guarav Singh, 30-year-old Nirmal Singh and 22-year-old Gurdeep Singh were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder after a missing man from India was recently found dead. On Dec. 14, the major crime unit with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office was contacted after a dead person, later identified as Kuldeep Kumar, was found "in a state of advanced decomposition" in a wildlife management area. After an autopsy, officials concluded that the cause of death of Kuldeep Kumar was multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Kuldeep Kumar was first reported missing by family members in New York on Oct. 26. A subsequent investigation determined the involvement of Sourav Kumar, Guarav Singh, Nirmal Singh and Gurdeep Singh in Kuldeep Kumar's death. On Friday, the four Greenwood men were taken into custody and transported to the Johnson County Jail. Nine-year-old rescued from neighborhood pond off Bass Road “The investigative efforts leading to the arrest of these defendants were nothing short of outstanding, and the teamwork exhibited by all the participating agencies truly exemplifies the best in law enforcement,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in the release.  “Collaborating with our law enforcement partners, particularly the FBI and NJSP, led to the identification of our victim and the swift apprehension of these defendants in Indiana." The release said that all four individuals will remain in the Johnson County Jail until they are extradited to New Jersey. “The charges brought against the individuals in connection with this tragic murder in Manchester Township reflect the tireless commitment of our detectives and the outstanding collaborative efforts of law enforcement at every level,” Patrick J. Callahan, the superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, said in the release. “Justice for victims and their families is always our highest priority, and this case is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and determination of those who worked relentlessly to bring those responsible to justice. Together, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure that those who commit such heinous acts are held accountable.”
