Vikings safety Harrison Smith out for Sunday at Seattle
Dec 22, 2024
SEATTLE — Vikings safety Harrison Smith was inactive for Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. He was listed as questionable heading into the game after navigating a foot injury this week.
It marks the first time the Smith, 35, has missed a game under defensive coordinator Brian Flores. He hasn’t missed a game in any capacity since the 2022 season, when he sat out the regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears.
There we hints this week that Smith might not be available. He was listed as a nonparticipant on Thursday and as a limited participant on Friday. The fact that veteran safety Bobby McCain was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday served as another indicator.
It will be interesting to see how the Vikings fill the void against the Seahawks. They could play reserve safety Theo Jackson in Smith’s role. They could also rely more heavily on safety Josh Metellus.
