Fall River Police respond to 2 shots fired incidents

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said it responded to two shots fired incidents on Dec. 21.
Around 10:15 p.m. officers responded to the Sunset Hill Housing Development for reports of gunshots.
When they arrived, they witnessed a car leaving the area at a high speed and initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, a juvenile from the vehicle fled the scene, and during a foot pursuit accidentally shot himself in the upper thigh area.
The department said officers rendered aid and the suspect was transported to a local hospital.
He will be facing charges associated with the incident.
Meanwhile, police responded to Charles Street for reports of shots fired at the same time.
Police said an adult male fired a gun in the area and a canvas of the area was started.
During the search an officer located a male matching the suspect’s description on Woodman Street.
He was found to be in possession of “several firearms and ammunition” and was taken into custody.
The department said that the two incidents were unrelated and there was no danger to the public.
