SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Department of Elder Affairs hosted their annual holiday brunch this morning at the Raymond Jordan Center.Ariel Mendez, the Office Manager at the center said through events hosted, a family has formed with all of the senior citizens and seeing their smiling faces warms her heart, especially in the holiday season. Light snow and frigid temperatures into the weekend "A lot of people might not be able to spend time with their families and such," Mendez said. "So this is a great way for us to give back to our senior center." Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno stopped by to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and the Miss Senior Massachusetts was even there to help hand out the meals.The Springfield Department of Elder Affairs also hosts events and classes year-round including pickleball, dance, and tai chi.
