MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A family is without a home just before the holidays after a tree fell onto a house in Takoma Park on Saturday. In a post on X at 3:10 p.m., Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said crews were on the scene after a tree fell into a home in the 500 block of New York Avenue. Piringer noted that there was an active fire in the fireplace at the time. A home was left damaged after a tree fell into it. (Courtesy: @mcfrsPIO) Those who were inside made it out safely without injury. However, two adults, two dogs and two cats were displaced, according to Piringer. As a result of the incident, some wires were down, and the road was partially blocked.
