Fort Wayne firefighters respond to abandoned house fire southeast of downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to an abandoned house fire just southeast of downtown Fort Wayne Saturday morning.
The fire was initially called out around 8:30 a.m. Dispatch confirmed with WANE 15 that the fire department was responding to the area of S Hanna and Hugh Street for a working fire.
In a press release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, firefighters responded to a house fire at 1235 S Hanna Street.
When firefighters arrived they found smoke coming from all levels of the home. The fire was under control just before 9 a.m. Crews continued to work at the scene for a couple of hours to make sure the fire was extinguished.
No one was found within the home.
WANE 15 crew at the scene say that S Hanna Street appears to be shut down from E Lewis Street to Eliza Street.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
