A car struck and killed a pedestrian in Mira Mesa Friday morning, authorities reported. The southbound vehicle hit the man on Black Mountain Road at Gemini Avenue shortly before 5:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Police Department. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the department said. His identity was not immediately available. Police closed Black Mountain Road to through traffic while investigating the fatal crash.
