'It's a thrill:' Lou Gramm to end music career with hometown show at Batavia Downs
Dec 20, 2024
BATAVIA, N.Y. (WROC) - Batavia Downs Casino's summer concert lineup has been announced, and among the headliners is Rochester's own Lou Gramm.
The August 1 show will mark the Foreigner founder and frontman's final hometown performance, as he prepares to wrap up a legendary career in rock and roll.
News 8's Natalie Kucko caught up with Gramm Friday to talk about what he has planned for the year ahead, and a reflection of his many years in music.
For the 'Juke Box Hero' singer, it's been a banner year with much to celebrate. Gramm was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October.
Now, he's looking ahead at a new chapter.
"I'm trying to kind of play it out in my head, what it's going to be like. I know I've got a lot of things in my life that have been somewhat neglected, and I'd like to climb back into some things that I've had to put to the side because of my music career and just explore those few options again," he said.
Gramm has a new album coming out in June, with the Batavia Downs show to follow in August.
As he describes, the band is still as strong as ever.
"We've been doing some outdoor shows. We've been doing some amphitheater shows, and we've been getting standing ovations, believe it or not, at the end of the show. There's nothing like it. It's really a show of appreciation and affection. Those are two feelings I don't get tired of," said Gramm.
As Gramm gets ready to hang up his guitar, he shares a message for his loyal, longtime fans.
"There's a lot of music I've been a part of that stands the test of time and it'll be there to enjoy in the many years yet to come," he said.
