Breakin at COS coffee shop leaves owners shaken

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a break-in at a coffee shop near Astrozon Boulevard.
On Friday, Dec. 20 at around 7:30 a.m., CSPD was notified that the front door at Stompin' Groundz, located at 2050 Jet Wing Drive, was broken and the business appeared to have been burglarized.
According to Stompin' Groundz owner, a rock was allegedly thrown through the front door and a phone and touch screen for the register was smashed. The owners said they are "very shaken up and heartbroken" over the incident according to spokesperson Jessi Bustamante.
Police confirmed the break-in but said while it does appear some items were taken, they had no idea of a dollar amount estimate.
CSPD also reminded any businesses or even residences can contact a CSPD crime prevention officer and arrange a free security evaluation of their property to get recommendations on steps that can be taken to better protect their home or business.
Stompin' Groundz will be closed for the foreseeable future. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the non-emergency line at 719-444-7000.
