FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Poverello House is hosting Homeless Persons' Memorial Day on Saturday and they say it is to remember those who passed during the year while being unhoused and those who were without a place to call home. Organizers say during the memorial, service providers and friends will read eulogies and a list of names in honor of those who passed away in Fresno because of the negative effects of being unhoused. According to Poverello House, the day is a community effort involving those who lived to experience being unhoused, service providers, advocates and policymakers. Poverello House says light refreshments will be provided. Officials with Poverello House say the event is free and open to the public. The event starts at 6 p.m. at Poverello House near the F Street entrance. Guests are invited to park on-site at the entrance of G Street and San Benito Street.
