BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway into the "sudden death" of an infant in Burrillville early Thursday morning, according to police. Officers and first responders rushed to a Church Street apartment around 6:30 a.m. after a woman found her 6-week-old infant son unresponsive in his bassinette. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy's death is now being investigated by the Burrillville Police Department, the R.I. Attorney General's Office, the Medical Examiner's Office and the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). It's unclear if the boy's mother will be facing charges at this time, since his cause of death has not yet been determined. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
