Massachusetts saw increase in unemployment, jobs added in November

BOSTON (WPRI) — Massachusetts saw a slight uptick in its unemployment rate and number of jobs added last month, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD).
The EOLWD said the unemployment rate clocked in at 4%, a 0.1% increase from October.

The commonwealth's rate is still lower than the national average of 4.2% reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's also more than half a percentage point lower than neighboring Rhode Island's, which sits at 4.6%.
Around 800 jobs were added in Massachusetts, an improvement over October, when 1,700 jobs were lost.
The EOLWD noted that the commonwealth has added more than 27,000 jobs over the past year.
