Man sentenced for Glenbrook Square voyeurism crimes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- A 37-year-old man was officially sentenced after being caught on surveillance footage twice in 2023 holding his phone under a dressing room door in Glenbrook Square Mall.

Daniel J Mathis was sentenced Friday to two consecutive 1.5-year sentences for Voyeurism with a year of probation to be served as well.

On Aug. 8, 2023, Mathis was seen going into Hollister and holding his phone under a dressing room door while a 13-year-old girl was changing. In another instance four months later, Mathis was seen doing the same thing while a 21-year-old woman was changing on Dec. 19, 2023.
According to a release, Detective Jean Gigli and Detective Miranda Lasley of the FWPD’s Crimes Against Persons investigative division eventually identified Mathis as the suspect after they shared photos with the public trying to identify him.
Mathis was arrested in South Bend on Feb. 7 and extradited to Fort Wayne.
