ALDI announces Metairie WinnDixie conversion
Dec 20, 2024
The Winn-Dixie grocery store at 5901 Airline Dr. in Metairie will be converted to an ALDI with a grand opening announced for Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.
This is the second ALDI Metairie location as the other is located at 8855 Veterans Memorial Blvd.
The ALDI Metairie store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be online shopping, curbside pick-up, and delivery options also available.
The conversion is part of ALDI’s announcement last year that it bought 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets throughout the southern United States. Aldi said it will convert some locations to its own brand and format, which cuts costs with features like lean inventories and self-bagging. But it will also operate some stores under the Winn-Dixie and Harveys brands.
“As shoppers look for ways to stretch their dollars further, our new ALDI store will deliver the Metairie community affordable, quality groceries, a quick, easy shopping experience, shelves stocked with only the best products and on-trend ALDI Finds,” said Heather Moore, Loxley Vice President for ALDI. “The new store brings us one step closer to our goal to add 800 stores nationwide by the end of 2028 in response to customer demand for ALDI stores in their communities.”
At the Jan. 9 grand opening, the first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of ALDI products and a gift card as part of the ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a $500 ALDI gift card.
In addition to ALDI’s selected range of exclusive products, the Metairie ALDI store will offer fresh, organic produce delivered daily, organic meats, cheese and wine, fresh produce, sustainable seafood, and food for every taste and lifestyle (gluten-free, plant-based, etc.) There will also be weekly offerings of limited-time ALDI finds like seasonal food, home goods, and more.
