Dec 19, 2024
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said it will tour universities across the DMV early next year as part of a new initiative to address Islamophobia, discrimination, censorship as well as other biases students in D.C., Maryland and Virginia face.
"DMV Campus Tour" will kick off in January 2025 and the goal for this tour is to listen and understand what is important for students as well as their concerns.

“CAIR is excited to collaborate with students and better understand their needs and how our organization can serve and support them. By fostering stronger campus communities, the DMV Campus Tour will serve as a springboard for sustained advocacy and support for Muslim students," said CAIR Maryland’s Outreach Coordinator, Kimberly Syuardi.
The event will be informational and also offer resources and workshops on different types of issues.
It will also have individualized trainings and discussions that will be specific to the needs of that University or College.
“More than just offering resources, this initiative will provide an opportunity for students to share their experiences, understand their rights, and foster a safe and inclusive environment,” said Syuardi.
