Written by Michele Dufresne and illustrated by Ukrainian artist Max Stasiuk, the book invites readers to explore the magic of Bright Nights alongside a cast of playful characters, including Little Deer, Diego the Dinosaur, Geffy Giraffe, Pablo the Polar Bear, Little Frog, and this year’s newest addition, Louis the Lion.
Designed for second-grade readers but enjoyable for all, the book features wheels to turn, windows to open, and fold-out pages that expand the story. Readers follow the characters as they learn about the process of creating Bright Nights, from meeting the installation team to exploring iconic displays and storage areas for the decorations.

“We wanted to create a special book for Bright Nights’ 30th season,” said Judy Matt, president of the Spirit of Springfield and co-founder of Bright Nights. “It’s more than a children’s book because of its stunning illustrations and the interactive activities that make it a keepsake for fans of all ages.”
The book was a collaborative effort, with graphic design by Rebecca Coderre and printing by AM Lithography. It is available for $25 at the Bright Nights Gift Shop, Springfield Visitors Center, Rumspringa Books, and online.
