LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Closing arguments are underway in the Lexington murder trial of Corry Jackson. He’s charged with the murder of Timonte Harris last year. In a stunning turn of events, a defense witness confessed to firing the shots that killed Harris. Courtney Wrenn took the stand earlier Wednesday. He testified, that at the time of the shooting, Wrenn was the boyfriend of Lakeisha Hill, who was also fatally shot during the same incident. Jackson, however, is not charged in Hill’s death. During Tuesday’s proceedings, it was revealed that Wrenn’s DNA and blood were found on the gun and at the residence on Chestnut Street, where the shooting occurred. On the stand, Wrenn provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the shooting. Wrenn alleged that Harris, the victim, had been attempting to pursue a romantic relationship with Hill and was aware that she was with Wrenn at the time. He recounted that on the day of the shooting, Harris was dressed in dark clothing and approached him (Wrenn) before allegedly shooting Lakeisha Hill. Wrenn says he (Wrenn) then shot Harris, but in the process, he himself was also shot. Wrenn claimed that Corry Jackson was present at the scene, hanging out on the porch of a home, but was not involved in the shooting. When questioned about why he initially did not come forward with this information, Wrenn stated he did not trust the system but felt it was the “right thing to do” to testify and prevent an innocent man from going to jail. This is a developing story, which we’ll continue to update as court proceedings continue.
