Man facing reckless driving, eluding police charges after crash in Johnston

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A man who led police on a chase in Johnston is facing numerous charges, and will be arraigned today in court, according to police.
29-year-old George Torres was arrested and charged last night for eluding and reckless driving on a suspended license after police attempted to pull him over.
According to police, this is Torres’ fourth offense.
Officials said Torres was driving in the area of Greenville Avenue without his lights on around 8:45 p.m.
Officers tried to pull his vehicle over, but police said the driver did not stop and took the on-ramp to I-295 South.
During the chase, Torres took Exit 7 off the highway, and hit a guard rail off of Scituate Avenue.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Torres will be arraigned this morning in 3rd District court.
