After last year commissioning a 76-foot downtown mural celebrating the Spurs, Centro San Antonio is doing something similar — albeit on a smaller scale — in partnership with burgeoning nightlife district St. Paul Square. Centro — a nonprofit that promotes living and working downtown — is now accepting applications from artists interested in creating a new mural that will enliven St. Paul Square's central outdoor courtyard. The 11-by-38-foot open-call project will be named "Ole Night at St. Paul Square" and offer a glimpse into the East Side neighborhood's rich history while symbolizing its evolution into an entertainment hub. St. Paul Square and Centro are offering a budget of up to $15,000 to the artist with the winning proposal.
