TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center will soon be taking Christmas tree donations. On Dec. 26, the zoo will start taking donations. Participants can enter Gage Park from the 10th Steet entrance, turn right onto Memorial Drive and look for an orange snow fence near the horseshoe courts. The zoo asks trees be placed in the grassy area nearby. Trees will be accepted until Jan. 8. “No appointment is needed,” said Fawn Moser, Zoo Director. “We’ll take care of the rest and ensure the trees reach the animals who can enjoy them. Thank you for your thoughtful donation!”  The zoo typically uses old Christmas trees to benefit lions, tigers, owls, mountain lions, giraffes, black bears, painted dogs and more. After animals have had their fun with the trees, they will be ground into mulch for reuse. ‘Animals have grown tired of them’: Topeka Zoo says no more pumpkins The zoo asks to ensure the trees have no ornaments, tinsel, hooks, tree stands or plastic bags.
