WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A man was sentenced on Monday in connection to a shooting that killed 26-year-old Audreanna Hidalgo. Dennis Alcox, 39, of Junction City, was sentenced to 363 months (30 years and 3 months) in prison. In October, he pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and offender registration violation. On Feb. 22, Wichita police officers were dispatched to the Garden Pines Apartments in the 8100 block of E. Harry St. just before 2 a.m. for the report of a disturbance with shots fired. Hutch police arrest man for soliciting a child According to court documents, after talking to neighbors, officers were led to an apartment for a welfare check. Inside the apartment, officers found Hidalgo seated on the couch with a single gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Court documents state that during the investigation, it was discovered that Alcox was Hidalgo's possible boyfriend. Alcox had an ankle monitor for a prior case. Officers pulled his records and found that he had driven straight from Junction City to Hildago's apartment and was present at the time of the shooting. Flock cameras tracked Alcox and showed him in Junction City around 4 a.m. Junction City police officers were notified and, after locating Alcox, took him into custody. Alcox was charged four days later.
