Man sentenced in armed robbery of Cumberland Farms in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) - A Norths Adams man was sentenced to prison in connection with an armed robbery at Cumberland Farms in Williamstown.
In a news release sent to 22News from the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, in September 2023, 42-year-old Joshua Piantoni drove a four-wheeler to Cumberland Farms on Route 2, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. A total of $259 was handed over and Piantoni took off towards his home in North Adams.

North Adams Police were able to catch and detain Piantoni when he crossed Ashton Avenue. When police searched him, they found the stolen money and a BB gun.
Piantoni pleaded guilty to five charges, including armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon, and was sentenced to up to seven years in state prison.
