CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Following additional Chesterfield County Police officers patrolling Hull Street Road in Chesterfield County, an area recommended by residents, police have released the results of the traffic enforcement operation. Recently, the Chesterfield County Police Department held a poll on Nextdoor asking residents where the department's next traffic enforcement should take place. Of the six options, police said Hull Street Road won, as it received 49% of the vote. On Dec. 12, additional officers patrolled Hull Street Road with a focus of watching out for speeding, reckless driving, running red lights, impaired driving and cell phone use while driving. During the operation, police reportedly stopped a total of 99 vehicles. Officers issued 112 summonses and 45 written warnings for a variety of offenses. Police said the highest speed of the day was a vehicle going 81 mph in a 45 mph zone on Hull Street Road near the Route 288 interchange. That driver was charged with reckless driving. Police said in addition, a juvenile was cited for driving 73 mph in a 45 mph zone and for driving on a learner's permit without a licensed driver in the vehicle. Officials added that an 18-wheeler was cited for driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone. Drivers are encouraged to buckle up, put devices down, follow posted speed limits and move over for emergency vehicles.
