NANTUCKET, Mass. (WLNE) — A spokesperson for the Nantucket Memorial Airport said a drone was found on the airfield on Dec. 15.
At about 7:30 a.m., a drone was found by Airport Operations staff on an area of pavement used for aircraft, according to Nantucket Memorial Airport Manager Noah Karberg.
The drone was described as a small, multi-rotor drone that weighs under 0.55 pounds.
The staff reported the drone to the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration.
The discovery of the drone did not impact flights, and “there were no reported threats to aircraft,” Karberg said.
The incident is being investigated by the Federal Agency.
Officials said individuals should avoid flying their drones near airports, and operators must receive an airspace authorization prior to use.
