BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- People who died homeless in Bakersfield will be remembered during a vigil Friday at Historic Union Cemetery. The Bakersfield-Kern Regional Collaborative and other area homeless advocates will hold the homeless persons memorial vigil for the fourth year on Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend. Valley Plaza Mall temporarily evacuated after false reports of a possible active shooter Organizers said the memorial is in memory of people who died while homeless in 2024. The memorial will take place at the Sunrise Section of the Historic Union Cemetery located at 730 E. Potomac Ave.
