(BUENA VISTA, Colo.) — From smoothies to grab-and-go lunches and quick breakfast bites, The Blend, located on Main Street in Buena Vista, is sure to cater to any craving. As part of our We Are Chaffee County week, on Monday, Dec. 16, FOX21 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister ventured inside and grabbed a bite. Makenzie Shane, who lives in Buena Vista and works at The Blend, is originally from North Carolina but has been a part of the small-town community for five years now. She spoke to Matt about her favorite things about living in Buena Vista. "Having a slower pace here, where you can go get your groceries and bump into half the people you know or go for a walk and just kind of take things slow, is a really nice luxury to have and so that's something I really enjoy about Buena Vista," she said. Shane also talked about the many outdoor adventures the small town offers. "If you want to be outside, Buena Vista is the right place," she said. "We've got the river, the mountains, and really great spots to go hike and bike—whatever your style of being outside is, you can do it here and it's a great place to be." At The Blend, Shane said they also cater to that small-town vibe. "We are about really good people; we want to be the folks who remember your name, know your order, and take care of you," she said. "It kind of goes back to the culture of a small town and centering around those folks that make Buena Vista what Buena Vista is." When Matt asked about her favorite food on the menu, Shane said this: "I really like the Rancher Burrito, it's got all the breakfast things in it; so chorizo, eggs, bacon—you definitely need salsa on the side to be able to dip it in, so that's a go-to for sure."
