BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- For the first time in 17 years, you can sing-along to George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" composition at Bakersfield High School's Harvey Auditorium tomorrow.
The Bakersfield Master Chorale and Orchestra has learned the first part of Messiah. This is a free community sing-along where you will get a sheet of music, sit and sing along with all the choruses, according to Dr. Jennifer Garrett, Artistic Director of Bakersfield Master Chorale.
Handel wrote Messsiah, in 1741 while living in London, England and performed the composition for the first time in 1742 in Dublin Ireland.
The musical piece has three parts, but tomorrows community sing-along will only focus on the first part, along with a 14-perice orchestra and 80 sings in the mater chorale, Dr. Garret said.
The event starts Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at 1241 G St.
