Rainy and mild; late week brings colder shift
Dec 16, 2024
Areas of rain incoming this morning, as temperatures remain warm, to begin a new workweek. You will need to keep that umbrella nearby today, as rainfall looks likely and could be quite steady late morning, maybe a storm downstate, too. Morning temperatures holding in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
This afternoon, expect breezier conditions from the southwest, as temperatures climb into the upper 50s. Scattered showers will remain, as a cold front slowly arrives from the west. Highs today will near 60°, not a record high but close (65° back in 1984).
Tonight, clearing skies will take hold, as drier air punches in and colder air slips in overnight. Lows tonight will drop into the middle to lower 30s and fog could become an issue in several locations.
A colder shift gets underway midweek with a few spotty showers on Wednesday with even colder air by Friday. The big game in South Bend Friday evening between IU and Notre Dame could be very cold with temperatures in the 20s and breezy with pockets of snow! Look for updates in the days ahead, as the College Football Playoff gets underway.
