2 taken to hospital, 'multiple rescued' after fire breaks out at apartment building in Woodlawn

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) -- Two people were taken to the hospital and multiple people were rescued after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Woodlawn on Sunday.
In a post on X at 3:50 p.m., the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said crews were on the scene of a fire at a "garden-style" apartment building in the 4200 block of Buckman Road.

When units arrived, they found flames showing from the lower level of the building. Firefighters rescued "multiple people" and put the fire under control.
As a result of the fire, medics took a firefighter and another person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
