CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control are warning the public about a scam. According to the agency, people are receiving calls from someone saying they are from Animal Care & Control. The caller tells them their dog is hurt and they need payment to treat them. Animal Care and Control believes the scammers are trolling lost pet social media posts and targeting people whose pets are missing. ACC says it will never ask for payment over the phone. If you get one of these calls – hang up and call 3-1-1.
