KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The countdown to Christmas is on and first responders in Riverside are working to make the season bright for children in need. "She loved it, she had a big smile on her face when she came back," mom Kathryn Bruce-Reaves said. "You know some of these kids will buy clothes for their selves, they'll get something for their sister, their brothers, their mothers, their fathers. You know, grandparents and those are the things that just make you smile and have a great time with it," Riverside Fire Chief Gordon Fowlston said. In addition to shopping for gifts on their wish lists like toys and clothes, families also got a full holiday meal with turkey and pie.
