MANDAN, ND (KXNET) — Wreaths Across America is sweeping through the Peace Garden State once again. And today, the Bismarck Squadron Civil Air Patrol is taking the time to remember the fallen this holiday season. "What we're blessed with really is a very patriotic part of the country," says volunteer Kevin Iverson. "It's easy for us to do this because people in North Dakota value contributions people have made for their freedoms today." The North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan was bustling with life this morning. Members of the Civil Air Patrol bundled up as they laid wreaths on the more than 9,000 grave sites throughout the grounds. This is all part of Wreaths Across America, an initiative that started back in 1992. Wreaths Across America is a way to remember the sacrifice and service of America's fallen during the season of giving. The initiative has grown since the '90s. Right now, there are more than 3,700 ceremonies taking place worldwide. This is Bismarck Civil Air Patrol's 11th year giving remembrance, showing that even if freedom comes with a price, the life of freedom is priceless.
