H.S. Girls Basketball Wrap: Rutgers Prep takes down Ewing in opener

MONTGOMERY — An early lead did not hold up Saturday as the Ewing High varsity girls’ basketball team fell to Rutgers Prep, 66-29, in the Montgomery Tip-Off.
The Blue Devils opened a 17-13 lead in the first quarter, only to find themselves trailing, 27-23, by halftime.
Ariana Wadley’s 12 points were high for Ewing. Ava Frith topped all scorers with 25 points for the Argonauts, and Ava LaMonica backed her with 18 points.

PRINCETON JCT. — The Rams used a 21-2, second-quarter rally to break open their game with the Pirates.
Hayley DeKok’s 16 points paced three Hightstown players in double figures. Penelope Swarn followed with 14 points, while Caitlyn Nagle had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Ellie Black’s 11 points spearheaded a balanced attack for West Windsor-Plainsboro South, which outscored Hightstown, 24-19, over the final two quarters.

Saanvi Gudapati and Samantha Wetmore kept Peddie, which only trailed, 14-13, after one quarter, in the hunt by scoring 10 points apiece.
