Waiting for another warm up
Dec 14, 2024
An extremely strong area of High pressure centered over northern New England tonight will give us another very cold night under a clear sky. Lows will drop into the teens across just about all of RI except for the south coast where readings drop to the low 20s. Sunshine will start our Sunday off, but some clouds will be developing during the afternoon and high temperatures won’t be much better than Saturday, reaching the mid 30s.
As a warm front begins to approach on early Monday morning there looks to be a break away area of precipitation that could create some slippery conditions for the morning commute as some spots northern and northwesternmost portions of the state could be looking at some freezing drizzle or sleet with temperatures starting the day off in the upper 20s and low 30s. However, for the southern half of the state it would be just plain rain showers. Clouds will prevail all day Monday along with another light rain shower or two as highs climb into the low 40s.
Temperatures rise through the 40s and into the 50s on Tuesday as another rain-maker moves through. Then, it begins to trend colder again through the end of the week as yet another storm may be brewing Thursday into Friday with a few more rain showers Thursday and possibly some wet snow mixing with rain showers Friday.
