Teen driver charged in crash that killed 77yearold woman in Oakton

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Fairfax County police said a teenage driver is facing charges in connection to a crash that left a 77-year-old woman dead in November.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), on Nov. 9, police officers responded to the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place in Oakton for a crash involving two cars.
During the investigation, officers determined that an Acura coupe was traveling south on Hunter Mill Road and tried to turn left into the shopping center at Lynnhaven Place.

Police said that's when a 17-year-old boy, who was speeding in a Toyota Camry, collided with the car at the intersection.
First responders took the driver and passenger of the Acura to the hospital, where the passenger, Brenda Cratty, 77, of Vienna, died.
The teen was not hurt during the collision.
According to police, on Dec. 12, the teenager turned himself in and was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless Driving.
He was held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
