ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — URMC and Golisano Children's Hospital leaders celebrated the grand opening of the new interventional radiology suite for children. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday evening. According to URMC, the goal is to use minimally invasive and common procedures in place of surgery. The suite uses methods such as CAT scans and X-rays to minimize potential complications and reduce recovery time. "It never ceases to amaze me the amount of good that comes from people and this is just another manifestation of good people making good things happen," said Donor Matt Davitt. Prior to this, the children would have to go to a separate adult facility at Strong Memorial Hospital for procedures.
