(WGHP) — The holidays are just around the corner and the FOX8 News Team is sharing their favorite recipes throughout the week.
Today, we look at Emily Byrd's favorite holiday treat.
This is Melissa Painter’s favorite holiday recipe
Monkey Bread
Note: This recipe is best served warm.
Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 (12 oz.) packages of refrigerated biscuits
1-1/2 sticks of butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9- or 10-inch tube or Bundt pan.
Put white sugar and cinnamon in a Ziploc bag, shake it up to mix, then set it aside. Cut biscuits into quarters. Shake 6 to 8 biscuit pieces in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Place layers of biscuit pieces in the bottom of your pan, layering with nuts as you go.
In a saucepan, melt the butter, then add the brown sugar. Use a whisk to stir until the mixture is smooth. Allow to boil for one minute.
Pour the brown sugar mixture over the biscuits.
Bake for 35 minutes. Let it cool down for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a large plate.
