SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Summerville Greenwave will compete Friday in the State Championship game against Dutch Fork, and the community is invited to send the team off in full fanfare. People are encouraged to gather at Hutchinson Square for a special state sendoff for the football team. “Wear your green and be loud,” the team said in a social media post. The sendoff is scheduled for 11 a.m., and kickoff at South Carolina State University is scheduled for 2 p.m. Summerville Greenwave has not played for a state title since 2007. They defeated Sumter 35-6 for the 5A Division 1 Lower State title last Friday night.  After initially announcing an eLearning the day for the school, the district revised its plan and said the school would be closed on Friday so that people could attend the game and offer support. A make-up day will be determined later.
