CAMPO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Six people were hospitalized Wednesday for carbon monoxide poisoning in Campo, authorities said. Cal Fire San Diego received a call around 11:10 a.m. from the 1700 block of North Campo Truck Trail on the Campo Reservation. Two adults and four children were taken to the hospital, where they are in unknown condition, first responders said. Can San Diegans who lost power get reimbursed for spoiled groceries? Authorities say there were power outages in the area due to public safety power shutoffs for a Red Flag Warning, but it is unknown if that house had power at the time. The Red Flag Warning has since expired. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, practically odorless, and tasteless gas or liquid. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, carbon monoxide can result from unvented kerosene and gas space heaters; leaking chimneys and furnaces; back-drafting from furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves, and fireplaces; gas stoves; generators and other gasoline-powered equipment; automobile exhaust from attached garages; and tobacco smoke.
