WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) announced that Metro will be boosting its Green and Yellow lines' services and increasing bus service on certain routes in the coming days. The new changes will begin on Sunday, Dec. 15. During the weekdays, the Green and Yellow line trains will arrive every six minutes until 9:30 p.m. whereas before, it was every eight minutes. Metro to ramp up fare enforcement for first time in 50 years Additionally, 26 Metrobus routes will see service changes starting on Sunday as well. Changes and improvements being made: In the District of Columbia, launching the new Route C25 between Anacostia and Stanton Road SE, extending service from Georgetown to Union Station, and adding service on 14th Street NW to support the future launch of the new Better Bus Network; In Maryland, serving a new bus loop at New Carrollton in response to Maryland Transit Administration Purple Line construction; and, In Virginia, updating the Columbia Pike 16-series routes to operate along a new segment of Columbia Pike near the Air Force Memorial. Routes with schedule and other changes: DC: 31, 33, 38B, 52, 54, C25, D6, M6, N2, N4 Maryland: B24, B27, F6, F13, G12, G14, R1, R2, T14, T18 Virginia: 16A, 16C, 16E, 16M, 28A, REX All the changes will work towards improving on-time performance.
