HCC opens Marieb Center for Student Parents

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Holyoke Community College celebrated the grand opening of its "Marieb Adult Learner Success Center" on Wednesday.
This new center includes a new lounge and studying space for student-parents who are working to get an education while raising children.
The nearby parent learning center includes a special desk with an attached secured napping area for small children and a learning corner with books and toys. "The hub is really here to provide a space for our student parents to come in and build a community and have space on a campus dedicated to them so that they can actually have a time and place where they can study and not feel the challenges," says Anne Morales Medina.
The center was named after a former alumna Alane Merieb who donated $1 million to HCC before she passed. Also next year, the college's " Itsy Bitsy Child Watch Center" will relocate to a new space, closer to the Parent Learning Center.
